Most major insurance plans recognize cranial prostheses (medical wigs) as a covered medical necessity for conditions such as:
Alopecia • Chemotherapy • Lupus • Trichotillomania • Thyroid Disorders • PCOS • and other related causes

What’s Typically Covered

Coverage varies by plan, but most insurers include:

• A custom or pre-made cranial prosthesis for medical hair loss

• One unit per benefit period (every 12–24 months)

• Fittings and adjustments related to your prosthesis

Insurance Verification

Before your consultation, we’ll verify your benefits directly with your insurance provider.
Verification usually takes 3–7 business days, and we’ll contact you with your results, coverage details, and next steps.

What you’ll need:

• Prescription or letter of medical necessity (must say “cranial prosthesis” and include diagnosis code)

• Insurance card

• Photo ID

Filing & Payment

Rhesilient Roots Rx handles claim submission for you.
If your plan covers only part of the cost, you’re responsible for any remaining balance or copay.

Self-Pay Clients:
Payment is due at the time of service. You’ll receive a Superbill or CMS-1500 form to request reimbursement from your insurer if desired.

If a claim is denied, we’ll guide you through your options and help you understand your next steps.
